Helicopter skiing in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan has a lot of opportunities for heliskiing in the mountains. 95% of the territory of the country is lying in the mountains of Tien-Shan. Hundreds of virgin slopes are waiting for the skiers who love wild nature and nice free runs on the fresh snow. Experienced pilots of the helicopter MI-8 MTV can land on the peaks and passes at the altitude of 4500 m, with the group of 16 skiers. The run of the decent is 1-5 km, height difference is from 500 m to 1500 m.

The peculiarities of the climate in Tien-Shan:

The winter in the mountains is warm. The temperature is from +5 to -10 degrees centigrade. The depth of the snow in the region is 0,7 - 1 m. The structure of the snow is powdery. The avalanche danger is minimal.

The temperature in spring is from +10 to -5 centigrade. The depth of the snow is 1-1,2 m. The structure of the snow is flaky. The avalanche danger is middle.

Season: February, March and April.

The optimum size of a group is 12 persons, maximum 16 persons.

Services : “Tien-Shan Travel” provides: transfers in accordance with the program, including 10 hours helicopter flights, full board, double room accommodation, accompaniment by 2 guide-instructors, radio connection, rescue equipment, visa support and all formalities on the spot. 8 days of rest in Kyrgyzstan, 6 of them is heliskiing in one of the skiing regions. The program begins from Bishkek and ends in Bishkek.

Additional service: sauna, bar.

In case of non-flying weather the skiers can use a ski lift.

Note: Tour leader of group have a last word for deciding about skiing in the region. Our guide can recommend and explain all situations about snow conditions, avalanches and about region of skiing.

Conditions:

Every member of the group must have medical and accident insurance, his own (personal) outfit including radio buoy (avalanche equipment), helmets.

Kyrgyz Ala-Too range

Program:

1. Arrival in Bishkek. Drive to the mountains. Accommodation in cottage.

2. Heliskiing on the Bolshaya Ala-Archa glacier, Toktogul Glacier.

3-4. Heliskiing in Suusamyr valley.

5. Heliskiing in Belogorka gorge, Ak-Suu glacier.

6. Heliskiing on Issyk-Ata glacier, Alamedin glacier.

7. Heliskiing on Manas glacier, Golubina glacier.

8. Departure.

Group arrives to the “Manas” airport, it’s located 35 km from Bishkek (the capital of Kyrgyz republic). Our team (experienced heliskiing guides) meets skiers at the airport and drives together to the mountain hotel “Kashka-Suu” (30 km from Bishkek). Double room accommodation in cottages. Breakfast. Preparing for helicopter skiing: discussion of details with our guides. Helicopter is based not far from the cottages. The pilots are very experienced; we are working with them during 20 years.

On the next day after breakfast the program is starting. Fly to the mountains. Helicopter lands on the top and all skiers get off. One of our guides all the time in the helicopter for radio connection and avalanche situation control. Skiers go down by ski and take seats at the helicopter for one more run. If group likes this region we can do it a few times. If not, we fly to another place. Around 12:00 pm we find a good place, land and have a lunch. After lunch skiing till 2:00 pm and fly back to the hotel. Free time.

In case of no flying weather it is possible to use ski lift at near the hotel. Or we can organize excursion to Bishkek (visiting the museums, restaurants and discos).

In case of unused flight hours from guaranteed 10 hours due to weather conditions, your request or any others reasons we pay back on the basis of 1920 Euro per 1 hour.

Terskei Ala-Tau range

DAYS:

•  Arrival in Bishkek. Meet at the airport. Breakfast. Helicopter flight to Karakol town. Accommodation at the hotel “Karakol”3*.

•  Heliskiing on the slopes of Terskei Ala-Tau range.

•  Heliskiing on the slopes of Terskei Ala-Tau range. In the afternoon flight to Bishkek.

•  Departure home.

Group arrives to the “Manas” airport, it located 35 km from Bishkek (the capital of Kyrgyz republic). Our team (experienced heliskiing guides) meets skiers at the airport and after breakfast fly to the “Karakol” hotel 3* (7 km from Karakol) by helicopter. It takes 2 hours. Double room accommodation at the hotel. Preparing for helicopter skiing: discussion of details with our guides. Helicopter is based not far from the hotel. The pilots are very experienced; we are working with them during 20 years.

On the next day after breakfast the program is starting. Fly to the mountains. Helicopter lands on the top and all skiers get off. One of our guides all the time in the helicopter for radio connection and avalanche situation control. Skiers go down by ski and take seats at the helicopter for one more run. If group likes this region we can do it a few times. If not, we fly to another place. Around 12:00 pm we find a good place, land and have a lunch. After lunch skiing till 2:00 pm and fly back to the hotel. Free time.
