Achik-Tash Base Camp

The camp is locat­ed at an alti­tude of 4000m, in the heart of the North­ern Tien Shan, at the con­flu­ence of the South Inylchek glac­i­er (also Engilchek) and its left trib­u­tary — the Zvez­dochka glac­i­er.

Near­est large set­tle­ment: City of Karakol.

The eas­i­est option is to get to the BC by heli­copter from the Karkara Base Camp or from the Mai­da-Adyr Trans­ship­ment Camp. Or on foot in 4–5 days.

The camp is con­ve­nient­ly locat­ed for climb­ing Lenin Peak. The camp has every­thing you need for liv­ing and orga­niz­ing ascents: tents, elec­tric­i­ty, excel­lent food, a show­er, a bath­house, radio com­mu­ni­ca­tions, a satel­lite phone, a left-lug­gage office, the Inter­net and, most impor­tant­ly, the kind­ness and warmth of the staff, con­sist­ing of expe­ri­enced climbers and tourists.

Above the Achik-Tash Trans­ship­ment Camp is ABC (Camp 1) on the Lenin Glac­i­er — an alti­tude of 4200 m, locat­ed 5–7 hours walk from the Achik-Tash BL. Camp 1 also has every­thing nec­es­sary for liv­ing and orga­niz­ing ascents: tents, elec­tric­i­ty, excel­lent food, a show­er, a bath­house, a left-lug­gage office, radio com­mu­ni­ca­tion, a satel­lite phone.
